Selanne Missing Out on a Lot
Right wing Teemu Selanne, suffering from two injuries to his right leg, did not accompany the Mighty Ducks on their two-game trip to Vancouver and Calgary. He did not practice with teammates Thursday and his status for Monday’s game against the Kings at the Arrowhead Pond remains uncertain.
Selanne suffered a bruised foot Sunday against Detroit and a strained thigh Wednesday against Carolina. He said he might have favored his sore foot Wednesday, which caused the thigh injury.

Left wing Paul Kariya has 22 shots on goal in the last two games, including a team-record-tying 12 against Detroit, another mind-boggling feat as far as center Steve Rucchin is concerned.
“For a guy who missed as many games as he missed last year, he’s in a league all by himself,” Rucchin said of Kariya, sidelined for last season’s first 32 games because of a contract dispute and for the final 28 because of post-concussion syndrome.
“The points [seven goals, 10 assists] speak for themselves. I honestly think his all-around game is going to start to get even better. Right now, it takes him a little while to get going. But he’s stepping up more and more now.”

Unsigned Islander standout Ziggy Palffy has been rumored to be headed to Vancouver if and when a deal is struck. Vancouver General Manager Brian Burke expects something to happen before Christmas.
