Palmdale 14, Highland 3--Marquis Murray and Anthony Diggs combined for 150 yards rushing, and the Falcons (6-4, 3-2) clinched a Division III playoff berth at Palmdale.
Diggs ran for 79 yards in 11 carries and Murray had 79 yards in 17 carries. The tandem provided both of Palmdale’s touchdowns, with Diggs scoring on a 37-yard run late in the first quarter, and Murray racing for a 46-yard score late in the second quarter to give the Falcons a 14-3 lead.
Highland (3-7, 2-3) had two opportunities to score late in the game. Bulldog quarterback Anthony Peterson threw an incompletion on fourth and goal from the Palmdale five-yard line with just over six minutes remaining.
Palmdale then stopped Highland on fourth and inches, dropping Kevin Morris for a six-yard loss with 2:31 to play.
Highland’s Brandon McElvaine had 112 yards in 24 carries, but the Bulldogs routinely failed to convert in third-down situations.
