Hollywood Police Division Starts Holiday Toy Drive
HOLLYWOOD — Police and merchants are collecting toys for children of low-income families in the Hollywood Division’s first Christmas toy drive.
About 25 cardboard boxes decorated by schoolchildren have been placed at businesses in the Hollywood area for donations, said Senior Lead Officer Vincent Aguirre. Among the locations are Coconut Teasers on Sunset Boulevard and the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.
The drive ends Dec. 4, and the toys will be distributed at the division’s annual Christmas party for needy children Dec. 5. Last year, more than 1,000 children attended, Aguirre said.
Parents who wish to get tickets for their children should contact their school, Aguirre said. Businesses can get boxes for the toy drive by calling the station’s Community Relations Office at (213) 485-4310.
