Merit Pay for Teachers

I agree with Brian Crosby (Commentary, Nov. 16) that good teachers deserve $100,000 salaries. Let’s begin by increasing the salaries of the best teachers who are already teaching. Do you think the teachers union would agree with a system of pay for teachers based on merit? The answer to that question defines the real problem with our rotten education system.
