James Staver; Headed Family Real Estate Development Firm
James Staver, real estate development executive and great-grandson of Times pioneer publisher Harry Chandler, has died. He was 47.
Staver died Thursday at his home in Leucadia, Calif., after a 13-month battle with leukemia, his wife, Rachel, said Monday.
The young executive had served as president of Torrey Pacific Corp., a Staver family holding company that concentrates in real estate investment and development. Staver had been involved in commercial and residential real estate development for many years.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from UC Santa Barbara and a law degree from University of San Diego Law School.
In addition to his wife, Staver is survived by their three children, Anne, 14, Ted, 10, and Thomas, 6; his mother, Marian Staver; four brothers, Dan, Tom, John and Larry Staver; and a sister, Ann Staver Irwin.
Staver had asked that donations in his memory be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 4715 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA 92123.
