Peninsula Girls Take Tennis Title

The Palos Verdes Peninsula girls’ tennis team won its seventh title in eight years Monday by defeating Irvine Woodbridge, 10-8, in the Division I final at the Claremont Club.
But the second-seeded Panthers had to hold off a big comeback by top-seeded and previously unbeaten Woodbridge to earn the title. Freshman Shilpa Joshi, who had played doubles in an 11-7 loss to Woodbridge during the regular season, swept three singles matches for Peninsula (23-1) in the final.
