“Why should we honor our flag?” Sixth-graders in the Tustin and Santa Ana unified school districts will provide the answer if they enter the Santa Ana Elks Lodge annual essay contest. Four boys and four girls will be chosen as finalists. From there, the eight essays will compete for U.S. Savings Bonds. Contest rules and entry forms are available at Columbus Tustin, Currie, Hewes and Utt middle schools. Essays must be original compositions, not to exceed 300 words. Deadline is Dec. 14.
