Devils Turn Their Attention to West
The New Jersey Devils have been beating up on Eastern Conference competition this season. Now they’re starting to take care of teams in the West.
Brian Rolston, Jay Pandolfo and Sergei Brylin all scored in the game’s first 7:28 and New Jersey held off a third-period Dallas rally for a 5-2 victory at Dallas in a meeting of two of the NHL’s elite teams.
The Devils entered the game in first place in the Atlantic Division, but they were 0-2-1 against the Western Conference before Wednesday.
New Jersey scored on three of its first five shots, and starting goalie Ed Belfour was pulled by Dallas Coach Ken Hitchcock after the third goal.
