Discount Treasures
It’s the day after the day after Thanksgiving, and we all know what that means.
Shoppers who braved the malls, factory outlets and other retail centers Friday--traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year--are today nursing their bumps, bruises, blisters and checkbooks.
Fortunately, all will heal. And when they do, there no doubt will be more gifts to check off the holiday shopping list.
Although Friday was the day to find the hugest of deals at stores throughout Ventura County, other sales and promotions await the savvy shopper over the next four weeks leading to Christmas.
Here’s a sampling:
Discounts are many and varied at the 115-store Camarillo Premium Outlets, which is making available a Holiday Coupon Book to those who know how to ask. The book is available to shoppers who bring in the vouchers they find through direct mail and print media ads, or over the Internet at https://www.chelseagca.com. The Web site belongs to Chelsea GCA, owner of the outlet center.
The book offers coupons for 75 outlet retailers. Offers, valid through Dec. 31, include 30% off any item at Carter’s Childrenswear, 15% off a purchase at Adidas, 15% off non-sale Geoffrey Beene merchandise, 33% off 1 1/2 pounds of fudge at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and 15% off a non-sale purchase at Jones New York Country.

Over at the Esplanade Mall in Oxnard, Thursdays will be particularly enticing over the next few weeks. Each Thursday through Dec. 17 shoppers spending at least $100 between at least two stores will receive a free gift. On Thursday, the item of the day will be Chocolate the Moose, the last in the original Beanie Baby series.
Each weekend, from 1 to 5 p.m., the mall will host a holiday gift display, with models promoting gift ideas at the various mall stores, which include Sears and Robinsons-May.

A number of stores at The Oaks mall are offering holiday discounts and giveaways, and the mall itself is sponsoring some gifts-with-purchase promotions (you make a purchase, you get a gift).
At Gymboree, selected items from the boys and girls holiday line of ski wear is 25% to 50% off, at the Museum Co. shoppers spending at least $100 will receive a choice of earrings or a bracelet, Sanrio Surprises is giving away Sanrio character trading cards with purchases, and Williams-Sonoma is handing out holiday recipes.
As for the mall in general, shoppers who are ready to dig deep and spend $350 in same-day purchases at specialty stores (not department stores) will receive an Italian glass plate or bowl. And on Monday, shoppers who charge $150 in Discover Card purchases--from a combination of any stores--will receive a copy of the Annabelle’s Wish holiday video (while supplies last, of course).
