Piece of County’s Story Overlooked
* Re “Young Towns, Rich History,” Nov. 6:
In reading your survey of the growing roster of small historical museums in Orange County, we were dismayed that the San Clemente Historical Museum was overlooked.
The San Clemente Historical Society is celebrating its 25th year and has been responsible for raising funds toward replacing the Spanish tile roof of the 70-year-old Casa Romantica, San Clemente’s crown jewel, originally the home of the city’s founder, Ole Hanson.
The Historical Society plans one day to move its museum into Casa Romantica from its present home in a small authentic Ole Hanson Spanish bungalow at 117 Avenida Cabrillo. The public is invited to view our museum’s fascinating collection of authentic memorabilia of the early days of San Clemente and to use its research library.
Thank you for calling attention to the burgeoning interest in the historical background of Orange County with your informative article.
