Loyola Marymount 79, UC Santa Barbara 78--The game was tied three times in the final minutes before Brandon Peyton made a layup that gave the Lions the victory at Santa Barbara.
It was the third home game the Gauchos lost by a point, despite holding second half leads in all three.
Santa Barbara’s Derek Allen broke free for a lay-up in the final two seconds of the game, but the ball rolled off the rim as the buzzer sounded.
The Lions (2-2) held an 8-point lead at 67-59 with 8:10 left in the game. But the Gauchos (0-5) closed that gap to two on six unanswered points by BJ Bunton, who scored 26 points.
