Horse Throws Actor Tommy Lee Jones
HOUSTON — A polo pony that stumbled Friday threw Academy Award-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones over its head and then stepped on him, but doctors reported no evidence of serious injury.
“I’m not hurt, a little sore,” Jones said through his Los Angeles publicist, Jennifer Allen.
Jones, 52, said the horse was running fast down a straightaway and stumbled.
Dr. Drue Ware, an emergency room doctor who treated Jones, said the actor reported losing consciousness for a short time after the accident, but there was no evidence of neurological injury.
Jones will remain in Hermann Hospital overnight for observation, Allen said.
The accident occurred at Estancia Del Pueblo Viejo, a private polo ranch about 45 miles west of Houston in Sealy, said Austin County Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Holloman.
