Crescenta Valley 14, Malibu 10--Senior driver Justin Payne and junior two-meter setter Carlos Pelayo each scored five goals for the Falcons (8-3) in the Calabasas tournament championship, and senior Alex Dmitrevsky had 16 saves.
Jeff Little had three goals for Crescenta Valley in an 11-9 semifinal victory over Santa Ynez.
Ventura 11, Righetti 8--Chad Caldwell scored four goals, and the Cougars (11-0) outscored the Warriors, 5-1, in the final quarter to clinch the Buena tournament championship at Ventura College.
Caldwell, who had three goals in Ventura’s 12-8 semifinal victory over Arroyo Grande, was selected tournament most valuable player. Mike Derse and David Miller of Ventura were also chosen to the all-tournament team.
Agoura 16, Arroyo Grande 14--Mike Campbell scored eight goals and Hans Larsen five for the Chargers, who took third place at the Buena tournament.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Royal def. Westlake, 16-14, 15-7--The Highlanders rallied from 4-0 deficits in each game to win the championship of the Royal tournament.
Courtney Guerra, who had 10 kills in the championship, was selected the tournament MVP.
