$1,000 Grant Awarded for Health Conference
A women’s health conference received a $1,000 grant recently from Orange County Supervisor Charles V. Smith.
Smith, using available discretionary funds, awarded Soroptimist International of Santa Ana the money to put on a health conference Oct. 17 at Santa Ana College.
Soroptimist requested the money in a letter to Smith in August.
Several women’s and community-based organizations will host the conference--which will include information in Spanish and Vietnamese--in hopes of expanding health services in the community. About 350 are expected.
“I applaud Soroptimist International for putting on this event, and I hope that the community can benefit from the conference,” Smith said. “I’m very excited about this opportunity to educate women on the importance of attaining good health.”
