How some sports were played differently at their inception:

1. TENNIS: Used wooden ball

2. BADMINTON: No net used

3. SOCCER: Kicked ball through hole into net

4. “SACRED BALL GAME OF MEXICO”: Losers decapitated

5. GOLF: Used grapefruit-sized hardwood ball
