Briggs, Franco Double Up for Canyons

A three-run seventh inning propelled College of the Canyons over Oxnard, 9-6, in a Western State Conference interdivision baseball game on Thursday at Canyons.
Cory Briggs and Sergio Franco each hit run-scoring doubles for Canyons (12-20, 5-7 in conference play) in the bottom of the seventh to snap a 6-6 tie.
Oxnard (12-15, 5-7) erased a 6-3 deficit in the top of the inning on a two-out, three-run home run by Tony Ortega.
In another baseball game:
Glendale 2, Santa Barbara 1--John Campanella’s double scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a WSC interdivision game at Stengel Field.
SOFTBALL
Canyons 9, Valley 3--Valarie Reyes drove in four runs and Liz Grey hit a three-run double for the host Cougars (20-11-1, 6-3) in a WSC game.
