Associations Limit Homeowner Freedom
An Aug. 22 letter writer says to be sure to try to find a home in a neighborhood with a “good homeowners association.” I would say to any potential home buyer, avoid associations at all cost.
Homeowners associations basically are leftist institutions wherein you do not have the freedom to do what you will with your private property but must share ownership with a group of busybodies who have the nerve to tell you under what conditions you may enjoy your castle.
The whole concept is an un-American assault on private property rights and sounds like something dreamed up by Lenin. The way I see it, after I have dished out almost $250,000, my property is mine and mine alone, not subject to the interference of an association.
The only good association is no association.
