* EBay Inc. Chief Executive Meg Whitman said the online auctioneer has started offering auctions in Canada and Britain, expanding its service outside the U.S. for the first time. The services started last week, said Whitman, speaking at the NationsBanc Montgomery Securities technology conference in San Francisco. San Jose-based EBay, which lets people buy and sell items on the Internet, makes money by charging listing fees and taking a portion of each sale.
