Youngsters who want to get a jump on their cheerleading skills can sign up for an eight-week course with the city’s Recreation & Community Services. The classes are designed for children 7 to 12 years old and include cheer routines, band cheers and dances. Beginners’ classes are taught from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.; advanced students meet from 5 to 6 p.m. All classes are held at the Community Center, 10911 Oak St. The fee for the course is $44.
