Supervisors’ Pay

* Ventura County supervisors are expressing anger over the proposed cut in their car allowances. Next to this news story is one about the raising of property taxes for residents. Are the supervisors expressing any anger over these increases? I doubt it.
Government officials always look out for themselves first. Take, for instance, bus transportation for kids at the Conejo Valley Unified School District. Using an obscure state law, the officials force parents of kids who use bus transportation to get to school, or for school athletic events, to pay out of their own pockets. At the same time, district officials have driving allowances at taxpayer expense.
If they are going to use taxpayer-provided transportation, there should be a big sign on the top of the vehicle saying “Caution: Government Official on Board--Watch Your Wallet.”
