The driver in a van crash that killed seven young people selling magazines door-to-door was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Turning aside Jeremy Holmes’ tearful apology, Rock County Circuit Judge John Roethe ordered that Holmes, 20, also serve 4 years on probation. Fourteen people age 15 to 22 were in the van headed back to their hotel March 25 when Holmes lost control on Interstate 90 near Janesville, Wis. Seven were killed and five others were seriously injured after being thrown from the van. Holmes pleaded guilty April 15 to multiple counts of vehicular homicide and causing great bodily harm.
