NEWPORT BEACH
A tall thief stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a Bank of America on East Coast Highway in Corona del Mar last week, and police are asking for the public’s help in tracking him down.
Shortly before 5 p.m. Feb. 25, the robber walked into the bank and handed a note to the teller. The note demanded cash, and the man said he was carrying a gun. No weapon was displayed. The teller gave him the money and he fled on foot.
He is described as white, in his mid-20s, 6 feet, 6 inches tall and about 220 pounds. He had slicked-back black hair and brown eyes with a scraggly beard, and he was last seen wearing a pair of red sunglasses and black jogging suit and carrying a green backpack. Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department at (800) 550-6273.
