ORANGE COUNTY BOOKS & AUTHORS
It’s billed as “Angels & Devils: The Light and Dark Sides of Love.” A poetry performance by Orange County poets Lee Mallory and Marianne Gillispie will be held at 8 p.m. today at Alta Coffee House & Roasting Co., 506 31st St., Newport Beach. The presentation, featuring live guitar music, will begin with Mallory and Gillispie seated at a candle-lit table where they’ll exchange greetings in the form of love letters to each other. Then they’ll alternately read their poems: He’s the light side of love, reading love poetry from his collection, “Full Moon, Empty Hands.” She’s the dark side of love, reading from her collection, “Truth of the Day: The Haunting Legacy of Child Sexual Abuse.”
* Gary Kinder will sign “Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea” at 6:30 p.m. today at Borders Books and Music, 1890 Newport Blvd., Costa Mesa.
* Barbara DeMarco Barrett will interview Kristin Hannah (“On Mystic Lake”) on “Writers on Writing” at 6 p.m. today on KUCI (88.9 FM) in Irvine.
* Judith Sherven and James Sniechowski will discuss and sign “The New Intimacy” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble in Metro Pointe, 901 South Coast Drive, Costa Mesa.
* Marilyn Gould, author of children’s and adult’s books, will speak at the National Writers Assn. meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Claim Jumper Restaurant, 18050 Brookhurst St., Fountain Valley. * Mako Yoshikawa will sign “One Hundred and One Ways” at noon Monday in the campus bookstore in the Student Center at UC Irvine.
* Poet Lee Mallory will read at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at McClain’s Coffeehouse, 817 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton.
