Small Plane Lands on Street Near Airfield

A pilot landed on a deserted Lancaster street Sunday afternoon when his small plane developed engine trouble about a mile east of Fox Field, authorities said.
No one was injured when the single-engine Cessna set down around 5 p.m. at 30th Street West and Avenue F, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Engel.
The pilot, who was carrying one passenger, later took off from the street, flying back to Fox Field without incident, Engel said.
“The highways aren’t traveled and there isn’t too much traffic there,” Engel said. “It’s out in the desert where there isn’t anything else around.
