A speeding driver who swerved to avoid stopped traffic died Monday after being broadsided by a car on Palmdale Road just west of the Pearblossom Highway, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The accident took place around 4:07 p.m. near the San Bernardino County line, said California Highway Patrol Officer Karen Faciane.
“He was driving too fast for traffic and when he applied his breaks to slow down for stopped traffic he lost control,” Faciane said. “He was hit as he swerved across Palmdale Road.”
Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the victim, who had addresses listed in Joshua Tree and Acton, Faciane said.
