April Ross
Newport Harbor, Volleyball
Ross earned MVP honors and helped the Sailors win last weekend’s Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, a tournament that featured seven of the top 10 teams in the state poll. In the final, Ross had 27 kills and only two hitting errors in 50 attempts during a five-game victory over Mountain View St. Francis, the No. 3-ranked team in the state. The Sailors are ranked No. 2.

University, Cross-Country
Posted the school’s sixth-fastest time in 17 minutes 37 seconds over three miles at University in a PCL meet.

Woodbridge, Tennis
Defeated previously unbeaten Natalie Braverman of top-ranked Newport Harbor, 7-6 (7-4), in a league match.

Ryan Bousquet
Esperanza, Cross-Country
Bousquet couldn’t help sixth-ranked Esperanza beat fourth-ranked Edison in the Sunset League finals, but he did win his third consecutive
league championship. He finished the three-mile course at Huntington Beach Central Park in 15 minutes 57 seconds, 15 seconds ahead of second-place Scott Brandos of Edison. Edison won with 36 points and Esperanza was second with 46.

Newport Harbor, Water Polo
Helped Sailors finish third at the John Felix State Invitational tournament last weekend at San Jose.

Marina, Football
Rushed for 322 yards and five touchdowns in Marina’s 47-15 Sunset League victory over Huntington Beach.
