Von Karman Avenue is set to receive a major face-lift if, as expected, the City Council today approves plans for its renovation. In Northwood, city improvements will temporarily force bikers and hikers who use the Hicks Canyon trail to find other routes. Starting this week, the city’s Public Works Department will close the trail from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays for up to six weeks. The closure will allow workers to clean the 120-inch storm-water drainage pipe that runs along the trail east and west of Yale Avenue. In addition, the deteriorated asphalt along Von Karman between Main Street and Campus Drive will also be replaced.
