Intel to Buy IPivot
(Bloomberg News)
Intel Corp. agreed to buy closely held IPivot Inc. for about $500 million in cash to get products that make Internet transactions faster and more secure. IPivot sells machines that help control the flow of information on the Internet. The equipment makes Web pages appear more quickly by sending inquiries to computers that are less busy. IPivot, based near San Diego, has about 100 employees. Intel has made eight networking and communications-related acquisitions this year.
