The Orange Unified School District and the Orange Unified Education Assn. agreed to send teachers a tentative agreement reached last spring for a second vote. In return, the district will dismiss two charges it had filed with the Public Employees Relations Board against the teachers association.
The two charges accused the teachers union of unfair labor practices because leaders allegedly failed to support the negotiated settlement and because the teachers association president, John Rossmann, allegedly made false charges and threats against district officials.

Teachers Contract--A story in Friday’s Times incorrectly stated the status of contract talks between Orange Unified School District and Orange Unified Education Assn. The teachers’ union council will consider on Monday whether to send a tentative agreement reached last spring back to its members for a second vote.
Under the tentative agreement, longtime teachers would receive raises of as much as 13% and face a mandatory buyout of certain benefits for $5,000. Teachers rejected the agreement in May by 24 votes.
