Recognizing the extraordinary dedication of computer teacher Bob Torres to educating students about business, the Chamber of Commerce honored him with the Crystal Apple Award.
The award traditionally focuses on teachers involved in business education. Torres runs several programs at Loares High School including coordinating an internship program and the Future Business Leaders of America club, which hosted a classic car show last year.
Torres also opens his classroom every afternoon to students seeking to improve their computer skills and helped establish a computer room at the school. “He really loves the kids,” said Assistant Principal Kirsten Schaefer.
