Online Ad Firm DoubleClick Will Cut Jobs
DoubleClick Inc. became the latest online ad firm to trim staff in the face of the slowdown in online ad spending, a trend the industry leader sees continuing. Executive Vice President Jeffrey Epstein, speaking at a conference in New York, said the reductions restore the company to its June 2000 employment level, which was about 1,980 people. DoubleClick employed about 2,100 people by the end of September. The job cuts are the first in DoubleClick’s five-year history. DoubleClick shares rose $1 to close at $13 on Nasdaq.
