Abajian Named CEO at Restaurant Group

* Theodore Abajian has been promoted to chief executive of Santa Barbara Restaurant Group, operator and franchiser of La Salsa, Timber Lodge Steakhouse and Green Burrito restaurants. Abajian joined the Santa Barbara-based company in 1998 and most recently served as chief financial officer while holding the same position at Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc., a Florida-based franchiser. Orange County financier William Foley is chairman of both restaurant companies.

* Black & Decker Corp. has named Christopher Metz to a newly created position of president, North American hardware and home improvement group, which is composed of Pacoima-based faucet maker Price Pfister and Irvine-based lock-set manufacturer Kwikset Corp. In addition, the company promoted Price Pfister President Les Ireland to president, global accessories, at Black & Decker.

* Digital Systems Technology Inc. has promoted John T. Duggin to the new post of executive vice president and chief operating officer. He will direct the Irwindale-based architectural support and systems-design firm’s operations.

* Heritage Leather Co. of Los Angeles has named Jose Munoz chief executive and Gustavo Gonzalez president. Both are former executives at McGuire-Nicholas Co.
