Pity the mailman who covers a two-block area in Ventura, where Buena’s Kelly Greathouse, Courtney Young and Courtney LaVere live.

Each has received hundreds of letters a week from colleges, although that number has dwindled for Greathouse, who committed to North Carolina State, and Young, who signed with Tennessee.

But they still get letters.

“Some people were joking that we should reconsider our decisions,” Greathouse said. “OK, I’m going to ITT Tech and Courtney will change her mind and go to the DeVry Institute.”

Crescenta Valley, which has produced All-Valley guards Michelle Greco, Sarah Hagman, Tara Gregory and Sinnamonn Garrett, might have another gem in Jeanine Deno.

A freshman guard, Deno averaged 18 points in her first four games at the Antelope Valley tournament.
