Improving Voting
* While the controversy continues over the Florida election results, California had better start looking at how we vote. Having just moved here this summer from Texas, I was shocked to find that I was voting in the foyer of someone’s home! I disliked having the voting take place in an individual’s house with people standing directly behind the “voting booths.” I felt that my privacy was invaded. Furthermore, having never used a butterfly ballot before, I asked two different election officials about how it worked and was given very unsatisfactory answers. As I listen to the media attention to the chads, I’m wondering whether my chads fell completely off.
Don’t wait until the next election to change these practices. Florida has the controversy today; tomorrow, it could be California.
