Authorities Search for Officer Wanted in Alleged Kidnapping
Riverside County sheriffs were on the lookout Friday for a Veterans Affairs police officer who allegedly kidnapped a 13-year-old boy and may have been heading toward Los Angeles, police said.
David Clairmont, 32, is already facing charges of molesting the boy, whom he allegedly abducted early Friday morning near Burmuda Dunes in Riverside County, said Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Ray Verdugo.
California Highway Patrol officers spotted Clairmont heading west on the San Bernardino Freeway in a blue, four-door 2000 model Pontiac Grand Am, license number 4JAC535, Verdugo said. CHP officers pursued Clairmont, but he eluded police.
Clairmont is on leave from the VA police but the deputy said he was seen wearing the dark blue uniform when he allegedly abducted the boy.
