MONTCLAIR PREP vs. PARACLETE

THE BREAKDOWN

Observations by Co-Coach Scott Faer of Kilpatrick, which lost to Montclair Prep, 50-0, and Paraclete, 51-6, in the regular season:

“Paraclete needs to make [Montclair Prep] throw the ball. They’ll have a chance if they do that because of their defensive backs.

“Paraclete is very good at running stunts. They’re very good at shifting from one formation to another, which can cause confusion with your blocking schemes.

“Montclair Prep’s offensive line is huge. Gary Sonkur is a good running back, but their offensive line is the key. Paraclete needs to put nine in the box and bring anyone else they can up there.

“On defense, Montclair Prep had the best blitzing linebackers we saw and they did some great corner blitzes. Outside of St. Bonaventure, they will not have been hit by linebackers and corners like Montclair Prep. If Montclair Prep stops the run, the game’s over. Paraclete has three good backs in [Curtis] Brown, [Erick] Jackson and [Michael] Washington, but I wasn’t impressed with their passing game.”
