Pardon for Clinton
* The first thing which the 43rd president of the United States should do upon taking office is to issue a pardon to Bill Clinton for any crimes he may have committed. This would not be well accepted by a great many people, but it would put an end to the controversy which so sadly divides the country.
President Gerald Ford established a precedent [in pardoning Richard Nixon] that may have cost him reelection. However, he saw it as a healing of a situation that was tearing apart the country and, although he took a lot of flak for it, it is now generally recognized as having been the right thing to do. The next president would be courageous to take similar action.
