* A Beverly Hills garment maker that allegedly failed to pay 12 workers from July 1 to Sept. 11 agreed to pay $62,000 in back wages and penalties. XOXO Clothing Co., one of the defendants in a federal lawsuit the workers filed in November, agreed to pay each employee about $4,000, said plaintiffs’ attorney Muneer Ahmad of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center. Workers are also suing Martinez & Sons Sportswear, a defunct contractor.
* Beverly Hills-based Earl Scheib Inc. reported a fiscal second-quarter net loss of $317,000, or 7 cents a share, contrasted with net income of $460,000, or 11 cents, a year ago. Sales dropped 5.4% to $14.8 million over the same period last year.
