People Have Forgotten ‘Cost’ of Having Children

In “Why Single Parents Can’t Pay the Bills” (Nov. 21), Diana Pearce, the report’s lead author, was quoted as saying that the high costs of housing and child care require “that single parents need higher-wage jobs, not because of bad budgeting or bad choices.”
Isn’t choosing to have a child a choice? I feel that many people have lost sight of the fact that there are increased responsibilities attached when one brings a child into this world. Whatever happened to delaying having children until one can provide for them?
