14 Sentenced to Life in Genocide Case
From Times Wire Reports
A court in the central Rwandan town of Gitarama has sentenced 14 people to life imprisonment for genocide and crimes against humanity, Rwandan radio reported. The charges are related to crimes committed in Taba commune in 1994, when more than 800,000 Rwandan Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed. The radio report, monitored in Nairobi, Kenya, did not specify when the sentences were pronounced. Eight people received lesser prison sentences in the same trial and two were acquitted, the radio report added.
