A fire station near John Wayne Airport caught fire Wednesday, sparked by a malfunctioning heater in the attic, authorities said.
One firefighter cut his finger during the 20-minute fire and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, said Paul Hunter, Orange County Fire Authority spokesman.
The fire at Fire Station 27 in the 1900 block of Campus Drive in Irvine broke out about 4:30 a.m and caused about $13,000 in damage.
The station will be out of service temporarily, and firefighters will be relocated to Fire Station 28 at 17862 Gillette Ave.
