Girl, 4, Critical After Being Struck by Vehicle
A 4-year-old girl was in critical condition after she was hit by a van Saturday afternoon in San Fernando, authorities said.
The girl was struck shortly before 3 p.m. near the corner of Pico and Lazard streets.
The girl suffered severe injuries to the left side of her face, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
Paramedics immediately called for a helicopter to take her to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
“The girl’s condition took a turn for the worse, and it was decided the best chance for survival was to rush her to nearby Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills,” Humphrey said.
