Closures on I-5 to Begin Tuesday
Caltrans officials have canceled Monday’s scheduled overnight closure of the Golden State Freeway through Santa Clarita. The closures will instead begin Tuesday and continue intermittently through Jan. 10, officials said.
All southbound lanes from Magic Mountain Parkway to Valencia Boulevard and the southbound Valencia Boulevard onramp will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until 5 a.m. the following mornings. The onramp will again be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday. Southbound lane closures will be in effect from midnight until 5 a.m. Friday.
Northbound lanes, between McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard, will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. Jan. 7-10.
The closures are part of a $14.2-million improvement project to widen the Valencia Boulevard bridge that spans the freeway and to modify the Valencia Boulevard/I-5 interchange. The project is expected to be completed by winter 2001.
