Billboards

* Re “Hey, You’re Blocking the View,” Nov. 23.
I am heartened by your editorial concerning the plague of billboards infesting our city. The City Council must have given permission to put up junior-sized [billboards] on both corners of every strip mall in the city. . . . In most cities, the council protects folks from this kind of blight, but our council takes the lead.
The Cahuenga Pass is soiled, not by commercial boards, but by those ugly light-post banners the city rents out. . . . The only encouraging thing I see is that the city’s banners cover most of the commercial ones. I guess we can be thankful. (The council can’t rent out our roads for ad space . . . right?)
