No. 1 Connecticut Rebounds With Rout

Swin Cash led a 23-0 run in the first half and top-ranked Connecticut rebounded from its first loss with an 86-34 victory over Seton Hall Saturday night at Storrs, Conn.

Cash scored 17 points, getting six during a six-minute burst that put Connecticut ahead, 31-6.

The Huskies (20-1, 10-0 Big East) built a 41-8 lead at halftime, a season-low point total for a Connecticut opponent and a season-high margin for the Huskies.

The overmatched Pirates (7-11, 1-7) shot 27% from the field in the first half and their 20 first-half turnovers resulted in 24 Connecticut points.

The Huskies lost to No. 4 Tennessee, 72-71, on Wednesday, and Seton Hall was coming off its first conference win, beating West Virginia, 58-49. Connecticut won the first meeting in December, 88-45.

Seton Hall finished with a season-high 38 turnovers. The Huskies had 21 steals, six by Sue Bird.

Kelly Schumacher and Shea Ralph finished with 13 points for Connecticut.

No. 2 Louisiana Tech 91, New Orleans 52--Christie Sides scored 22 points and the Lady Techsters received 32 points from their bench in a victory at New Orleans.

Betty Lennox added 18 points, reserve Brooke Lassiter had 13 and Takeisha Lewis had 10 points for Louisiana Tech (17-2, 8-0 Sun Belt). Lennox and Lewis also had 13 rebounds as the Lady Techsters won their 28th consecutive conference game.

Louisiana Tech, second in the nation in rebounding margin, held a 61-40 edge over New Orleans (9-10, 5-3).

Officials called 61 fouls, 31 against New Orleans. The Lady Techsters responded by outscoring New Orleans, 34-19, from the free-throw line.

Substitute Keeshawn Carter led New Orleans with 12 points.

No. 5 Notre Dame 72, No. 18 Boston College 59--Ruth Riley scored 12 of her 23 points during an 18-5 second-half run and Danielle Green added 19 as the Fighting Irish (19-2, 10-0 Big East) defeated the Eagles (18-5, 7-2) at South Bend, Ind., for their 15th consecutive victory.

No. 8 Iowa State 82, Colorado 64--Stacy Frese scored 21 points, including five three-point baskets, as the Cyclones (17-3, 8-1 Big 12) routed the Buffaloes (6-14, 1-8) at Ames, Iowa.

No. 9 Texas Tech 65, Baylor 49--Aleah Johnson scored 19 points and Plenette Pierson had 15 at Waco, Texas, as the Lady Raiders (18-2, 7-2 Big 12) defeated the Bears (5-14, 0-9) for the 35th consecutive time.

Marquette 81, No. 21 Tulane 62--Lisa Oldenburg scored 17 points and Abbie Willenborg had 16 as the Warriors (19-4, 10-1 Conference USA) defeated the Green Wave (19-3, 8-3) at New Orleans.

No. 22 Oklahoma 91, Nebraska 69--LaNeishea Caufield and Phylesha Whaley each scored 26 points as the Sooners (19-3, 9-0 Big 12) routed the Cornhuskers (11-9, 5-4) at Norman, Okla.
