City Engineer Steve May is preparing to launch a program to educate restaurant workers on the problem of urban runoff. He plans to organize a task force to distribute fliers outlining the do’s and don’ts of cleaning restaurants.
The flier advises workers to sweep up and dispose of debris and to collect grease in containers to be hauled away for proper disposal.
May will use volunteers or city workers to distribute the fliers to every restaurant. He said the project’s budget would be minimal, with printing the only cost.
