Clean Air
As an old, hacking smog-breather from the Valley, I am thrilled to read of President Clinton’s initiative to encourage clean, energy-efficient technologies. At last, it appears, mankind will be delivered from our oil-saturated atmosphere.
But everyone I talk to says that this technology is being deliberately held back by powerful petroleum potentates who see it as a threat to their stinking industries.
President Clinton, if you can deliver us from the poisonous vapors of car tailpipes and oil-burning plants, I will forgive you all your previous sins. Perhaps in my declining years I will yet be able to draw a few breaths of clean air.
