Advanced Photonix Enters Deal With Scottish Firm
Advanced Photonix in Camarillo has announced a $350,000 agreement to provide equipment to Optos PLC of Scotland. The equipment is a detector that will be used in the Optos Panoramic 200 Ophthalmoscope, a system that uses scanning laser technology. Optos developed its new eye-care technology to provide ophthalmologists and optometrists with improved image capture and analysis capability for the early detection and prevention of eye disease.
Brock Koren, president and chief executive of Advanced Photonix, said his company’s equipment detects light reflected from the retina during the eye exam and transforms it into a digital computer image.
“This is the first production order of what we expect will be a significant ongoing relationship,” Koren said.
Optos Inc. has operations in Dunfermline, Scotland, and in Boston.
Advanced Photonix is a high-technology company that designs and manufactures silicon photodetectors and other optoelectronic equipment.
