Knowing how to spell “labyrinth” earned 14-year-old Duc Dinh the Garden Grove Unified School District’s spelling bee title last week. An eighth-grader at Walton Intermediate School, Dinh placed third in last year’s competition. Dinh and runner-up Diane Vo of Fitz Intermediate School will lead Hai Pham, Ann Phan, Marco Liu, Amy Tran, Phuong Thao Tran, Patrick Caldera and Nhu Ha to the preliminary round of the county spelling competition March 2 at the Orange County Department of Education in Costa Mesa.
