Cruise Ship Adrift After Losing Power

The Carnival Cruise Lines ship Destiny was adrift near the Turks and Caicos Islands because of an electrical problem after its Sunday departure from Miami. The Destiny was carrying 2,956 passengers and 1,063 crew members on a seven-day eastern Caribbean cruise. All shipboard functions were normal and passengers had air conditioning, running water and working toilets, said Carnival spokesman Andy Newman. Newman said the ship was on its way to Puerto Rico when the malfunctioned occurred.
